The Faxon Match Series 16-inch .223 Wylde Pencil Barrel (brand part no. 15BW8M16NPQ-5R-NP3) is machined in-house from gun-barrel-quality 416-R bar stock and cut with Faxon’s 5R rifling, a hybrid pattern that reduces bullet jacket deformation for better velocity retention and easier cleaning. Faxon chambers the Match Series in .223 Wylde, a hybrid chamber built to take full advantage of the 5R rifling for tighter accuracy while still safely firing 5.56 NATO ammunition. Every barrel is individually magnetic-particle inspected before it ships, then Nitride treated inside and out to lock in the bore and extend barrel life. The slim Pencil profile keeps weight down on a lightweight carbine or precision-oriented build.
