The Freedom Ordnance FX-9 9mm 10-inch SB Mini pistol in Flat Dark Earth (FDE) (brand part no. FX9P10SBM-FDE) is a blowback AR-pattern pistol that feeds from Glock-type magazines. An SB Mini brace sits on the rear and sets overall length at 25-7/16 inches. Freedom Ordnance machines the receiver from billet aluminum and nitrides the barrel, bolt and other steel parts. It is a compact way to carry the longest FX-9 pistol barrel in a desert tone, ready for a light or optic on the M-LOK rail.

Key Specifications

• The chambering is 9mm Luger (9×19), the most common handgun cartridge, so ammunition is easy to find for range sessions.
• The barrel is 10 inches long, the longest pistol barrel Freedom Ordnance lists, which gives the 9mm the most sight radius and velocity of the pistol options.
• The rear is fitted with an SB Mini brace, a compact option that brings overall length to 25-7/16 inches.
• It feeds from Glock-type magazines, a pattern that is available in many capacities from many sources.
• Weight without a magazine is 5 pounds 3.02 ounces, which keeps a 10-inch 9mm pistol easy to hold on target.
• The build is billet type III anodized aluminum with nitrided steel parts, including the barrel, bolt, ejector, last round hold open, feed ramp and extractor, for wear and corrosion resistance.
• The controls are AR-15 pattern, with an AR-15 safety selector and pistol grip plus a proprietary AR-style magazine release and rear charging handle.
• Freedom Ordnance backs the FX-9 with a limited lifetime warranty, which adds long-term ownership confidence.
• The rear of the receiver is mil-spec buffer tube compatible, so common AR-15 rear furniture can be fitted.
• The color is Flat Dark Earth, one of the three finishes Freedom Ordnance lists for the FX-9.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ammunition does the FX-9 run? Freedom Ordnance recommends 115-grain FMJ and select hollow points, and says the FX-9 handles a wide range of jacketed and full metal jacket loads. It does not recommend non-jacketed ammunition, because unprotected lead can cause fouling and buildup, and it warns against aluminum-case ammunition and Zinc Point ammunition, which may damage the pistol and void the warranty.

Is the FDE FX-9 the same pistol as the OD Green or black one? It uses the same 10-inch barrel and SB Mini brace as the other colors, so the difference is the Flat Dark Earth finish.

How much does it weigh? Freedom Ordnance lists the 10-inch SB Mini pistol at 5 pounds 3.02 ounces without a magazine.
