Berger VLD Hunting Long Range bullets in .30 Caliber, 210 grains (Berger part no. 30515) are built for handloaders chasing flat trajectories at extended hunting ranges. Berger designs the VLD Hunting line with the same secant ogive profile as its VLD Target bullets, but pairs it with a thinner J4 Precision jacket tuned for rapid expansion on game rather than paper. Sold 100 to a box, this .30 caliber 210gr option is a favorite among long-range hunters who need a bullet that shoots flat and expands reliably on impact.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the VLD Hunting bullet different from Berger’s VLD Target line? Both share the same secant ogive shape, but the VLD Hunting bullet uses a thinner J4 Precision jacket built for rapid expansion on game instead of paper targets.

Why does the secant ogive design matter for long-range hunting? It reduces drag compared to a standard ogive, giving the bullet a flatter trajectory and less wind drift at extended ranges.

How far should this bullet be seated from the rifling? Many shooters load VLD bullets touching the rifling for single-shot applications, though some rifles perform best with as much as 0.150 in of jump.
