The Charter Arms Pro 209 Starter Pistol (brand part no. Z82090) is a 209-primer starting pistol built for track and field officials, referees, and event starters who need a loud, reliable signal without firing an actual projectile. Charter Arms applies decades of small-frame revolver manufacturing to a 7075 aluminum-frame starter pistol with a 6-shot swing-out cylinder sized specifically for 209 primers — it has no functional barrel bore, so it cannot chamber or fire ammunition of any kind. The bright orange frame with black passivate components signals at a glance that this is a starter pistol, not a firearm, and an exposed spurred hammer with black rubber grips gives officials familiar double-action operation. Among our revolvers, the Pro 209 suits schools, sports leagues, and range officers who need a dependable starting signal.

Is this an actual firearm? No. It uses 209 primers only for a loud starting signal and has no barrel capable of firing a projectile, so it is not a regulated firearm.

Where are 209 primers purchased? Many retailers, including Charter Arms dealers, restrict 209 primer sales to in-store purchase only due to shipping regulations on primers.

Why is the frame bright orange? The orange color is a deliberate safety cue that distinguishes this starter pistol from an actual firearm at a glance.
