The Shield Sights OMSsc 8 MOA Mini Red Dot, Open Mini Sight Sub Compact, Glass is a micro-compact open red dot for concealed carry pistols (brand part no. OMSSC-8MOA-GLASS). Shield Sights gave the OMSsc what it calls the world’s first translucent roof, which lets in more light and leaves the field of view nearly unobstructed. This version carries the larger 8 MOA dot for a faster pickup. It weighs 14.7 grams without the battery and keeps a low height over the bore axis for co-witnessing on a direct slide mount or with Shield’s low-profile mounting kit. The sight is always on, with no button to wake it up, which suits a carry gun.

Key Specifications

• The red dot is an 8 MOA dot, a larger dot that is quick to pick up at speed.
• The lens is a square-shaped crystal-clear glass lens with a hard anti-reflective coating and no magnification.
• The housing is aerospace-grade 6082 T6 aluminum with a translucent acrylic roof, which admits more light and opens the view.
• The sight weighs 14.7 grams without the battery, light enough for the smallest carry slides.
• It runs on one CR1632 battery rated for 9,000 hours in average daylight, installed from underneath.
• Automatic brightness adjustment keeps the sight always on, and the lowest setting is compatible with night vision.
• Water resistance is rated at 3 feet for 30 minutes (IP67), enough for rain and sweat.

• A low height over the bore axis allows co-witnessing with standard-height iron sights on a direct slide mount or Shield’s low-profile mounting kit.
• The sight measures 40.8 mm long, 19 mm wide and 21.5 mm tall, a very narrow housing for slim slides.
