The Maverick 88 All-Purpose 12 Gauge Black is a pump-action field shotgun from Mossberg with a 28-inch vent rib barrel and a black synthetic stock (Maverick part no. 31010). It is an affordable way into a 3-inch 12 gauge pump for dove, upland birds, waterfowl and clays. A dual bead sight and a Modified choke tube cover general-purpose wingshooting straight from the box. The blued barrel gives it the traditional look of a working field gun. Because the barrel interchanges with Mossberg 500 barrels, the shotgun can be reconfigured later for other jobs.

Key Specifications

• The gauge is 12 gauge, the most widely supported bore for ammunition and accessories.
• The action is pump, a simple and durable cycling system that runs whatever load you feed it.
• The chamber is 3 inches, so it takes magnum-length shells as well as shorter field loads.
• Barrel length is 28 inches, a long sight radius and swing weight that favors smooth wingshooting.
• The barrel carries a vent rib, which cuts heat shimmer and helps the eye follow the target.
• The barrel finish is blued, a classic protective coating for a field gun.
• The choke is a Modified tube, a versatile constriction for upland birds, dove and clays.
• Capacity is 5+1, enough for hunting limits and a full round of casual clays.
• Sights are a dual bead set, a pairing that suits quick, instinctive pointing.
• The stock is black synthetic with a 14.5-inch fixed length of pull, a weatherproof design that needs no refinishing.
