The Sierra Sports Master .45 Cal Bullets, 300 gr Jacketed Soft Point (Sierra part no. 8830) are Sierra‘s heaviest 45-caliber handgun bullet, sized at .451 in. and sold 50 to a box. Despite the soft point designation, Sierra built its 6% antimony, 4% tin, 90% lead alloy core to be the hardest bullet the company produces, so it expands only on the toughest game when driven at top-end velocities up to 1,550 fps. It’s intended primarily for the strongest 45 Colt revolvers (Freedom Arms, Dan Wesson, and Ruger), single-shot T/C Contenders, and 454 Casull revolvers, making it an excellent choice for the heaviest game on a handgunner’s agenda. Because of its length and solid construction, this bullet cannot be used in Colt Single Action Army revolvers or their modern reproductions. Sierra introduced this bullet in 1994.
