Description
The Rugged Obsidian45 suppressor is a modular .45 ACP can for pistols and pistol-caliber carbines, finished here in black (Rugged part no. OBS0145). Its ADAPT module lets one suppressor run in a standard 8.6-inch configuration for the most sound reduction or a short 6.7-inch configuration when a lighter, handier host matters more. Rugged Suppressors machines the baffles and the mount from 17-4 PH stainless steel barstock, and the keyed baffles index on two tabs to form a gas seal that keeps carbon from building up between baffle and tube. A non-slotted piston seals the full circumference of the bore for less gas blowback at the shooter’s face. The can is compatible with suppressor-height sights, and Rugged rates it for pistol calibers up to .45 ACP as well as subsonic .300 Blackout, .350 Legend and .450 Bushmaster on qualifying barrel lengths.
Key Specifications
- The caliber rating covers pistol calibers up to .45 ACP, and Rugged lists the Obsidian45 as Belt Fed Rated for them.
- Rifle ratings include .300 Blackout subsonic on an 8-inch barrel, and .350 Legend and .450 Bushmaster on 16-inch or longer barrels.
- Length is 8.6 inches in the standard configuration or 6.7 inches in the short configuration, switched with the ADAPT module.
- Weight is 12.8 ounces standard or 10.7 ounces short, so the short setup takes a little load off the muzzle.
- Diameter is 1.37 inches, slim enough to sit comfortably on a handgun.
- The baffles are 17-4 PH stainless steel, keyed with two indexing tabs to stay aligned.
- The tube is aluminum, which keeps the overall weight down.
- The mount is 17-4 PH stainless steel, machined from barstock like the baffles.
- The finish is black hard-coat anodizing and Cerakote, for a durable, low-glare exterior.
- It ships with a .578×28 piston, which Rugged says fits most standard .45 Auto threaded barrels.
