The Proof Research .243 Sendero carbon fiber barrel blank (brand part no. 104514) is an 18-inch bolt-action blank with a 1:7.5 twist, shipped ready for your gunsmith to thread and chamber. It is an unchambered, unthreaded blank, so it suits a custom build where the chamber, threading and muzzle finish are yours to choose. Proof wraps the barrel in aerospace-grade carbon fiber impregnated with a proprietary matrix resin, which Proof says makes it up to 64 percent lighter than a steel barrel of similar contour. At 2 pounds 10 ounces in the Sendero contour, it is a good starting point for a light, accurate .243-bore hunting or precision rifle.
