The Faxon 18-inch 6.5 Grendel barrel is a Match Series AR-15 barrel from Faxon Firearms (Faxon part no. 15BG8M18FHQ-5R-NP3), machined from 416R stainless steel and cut in a heavy fluted profile. The 18-inch length lets the Grendel reach the velocities it was designed for, while the flutes cut weight and add surface area for cooling. It is button rifled with 5R rifling and a 1:8 twist, salt bath nitrided inside and out, and fitted with a Nickel Teflon coated M4 extension. Every Match barrel is stress relieved, air-gauge tested, magnetic particle inspected and headspace checked. This is a precision barrel for a long-range or hunting Grendel build.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a Type I or Type II Grendel chamber? It uses the Type II 6.5 Grendel chamber, which Faxon designed for modern AR-15 bolts and magazines.

Why choose a heavy fluted profile? Fluting increases surface area for faster cooling and keeps the barrel rigid while weighing less than a solid heavy barrel.

What inspection does each barrel go through? Faxon stress relieves, air-gauge tests, magnetic particle inspects and headspace checks each Match Series barrel.
