The Leupold VX-3HD 4.5-14×40 Wind-Plex riflescope in Burnt Bronze is a 1-inch hunting scope with a locking custom dial (Leupold part no. 180621). Leupold combines the Elite Optical System with the CDS-ZL elevation dial and a Wind-Plex reticle with hash marks that help compensate for crosswinds. The finish is Burnt Bronze, and the aluminum housing keeps the weight at 13.3 ounces. A throw lever and a lockable eyepiece are included. It is a good match for a hunting rifle that sees mid-range shots in a breeze.

Key Specifications

• Magnification is a 4.5-14x variable range, a 3:1 zoom that fits mid- to long-range hunting.
• The objective lens is 40mm, which sets how much light the scope gathers and how much clearance it needs over the rifle.
• The main tube is 1 inch, so it mounts in 1 inch rings.
• The reticle is the Wind-Plex, a reticle that expands on the Duplex with 1 MOA hash marks out to 10 MOA on each side to help compensate for crosswinds.
• The reticle sits in the second focal plane, so it keeps the same apparent size as you change power.
• Each turret click moves the point of impact 1/4 MOA, a fine step for precise zeroing and corrections.
• Total travel is 70 MOA of elevation and 70 MOA of windage, enough range to reach out and still stay on paper.
• Eye relief is 3.6 to 4.4 inches across the power range, which keeps a safe, comfortable distance from the eyepiece.
• The scope weighs 13.3 ounces, a figure that matters on a rifle you carry.
• The elevation turret is the CDS-ZL dial, which locks and accepts a custom dial made for your ballistics.
