KAK Industry designed this extended flash hider so that, when pinned and welded to a 14.5-inch barrel, the combined assembly reaches just over 16 inches, clearing the federal minimum rifle barrel length. That pin-and-weld approach is a common, legal way to gain a slightly more compact barrel while keeping the assembled length at or above 16 inches, avoiding SBR registration.
