The Geissele URG-I Near Clone Complete Upper (brand part no. 08-159) is a 14.5-inch, 5.56x45mm NATO upper built as Geissele’s commercial version of the Upper Receiver Group, Improved, the upper USASOC developed to upgrade the M4 for issue. Geissele’s Near Clone keeps the same MK16/SF4P layout as the military configuration, cold hammer forging the barrel from 41V50 chrome-moly-vanadium steel with a 1:7 twist and a chrome-lined bore for the durability a service rifle demands, running on a mid-length gas system. The 13.5-inch Geissele Super Modular Rail MK16 M-LOK handguard, designed specifically at USASOC’s request, covers nearly the entire barrel, and a SureFire SF4P 4-prong flash hider at the muzzle is compatible with SureFire’s SOCOM-series Fast Attach sound suppressors. A Geissele Airborne charging handle rounds out the build for ambidextrous charging with minimal snagging. Finished in black and Desert Dirt Color, this upper brings genuine special operations engineering to a civilian AR-15 build.
