The Federal Premium 20 Gauge #3 Buckshot 20 Pellet load (Federal part no. P2563B) is a 5-round box of 2-3/4-inch shells that puts 20 copper-plated #3 Buck pellets into a 20 gauge hull. The smaller pellets let Federal fit a dense pattern into the lighter gauge, and the load leaves the muzzle at 1175 fps. Buffering keeps the pellets round for uniform patterns. It suits 20 gauge owners who want buckshot in a standard-length shell.

Key Specifications

• The gauge is 20 Gauge, a lighter-recoiling bore than the 12 gauge.
• Shotshell length is 2-3/4 inches (70mm), the hull length Federal lists for this load.
• The payload is 20 pellets of #3 Buck, a high pellet count made possible by the smaller #3 Buck pellet size.
• Muzzle velocity is 1175 fps, the speed Federal lists for this load.
• The pellets are copper-plated, which Federal uses to produce tight patterns and great downrange energy.
• The shot is buffered, and Federal says buffering prevents pellet deformation and ensures dense, uniform patterns.
• The pellet material is lead, with a rated density of 11.35 g/cc.
• The intended use is big game, and Federal cites impressive stopping power on predators, hogs and deer.
• The box holds 5 shells, a standard buckshot count for patterning and a day afield.
