Description

The Faxon Twenty-Toucan .22 Modular Suppressor is a fully serviceable rimfire-class can machined from 17-4 PH stainless steel (Faxon part no. FF-SIL-RF-MOD-22-01). Faxon rates it full-auto for .17 HMR, .22 LR, .22 Mag and 5.7x28mm, which is why it is built in stainless rather than aluminum or titanium. One serialized can runs in two lengths: a short three-baffle mode for pistols and a full six-baffle mode for maximum suppression on a rifle. Three standard and three perforated baffles ship in the box, so you can tune tone, flash and backpressure for your host and ammunition. At the 2025 Silencer Summit it measured 131.95 dB at the muzzle on a .22 LR pistol, a 27.7 dB reduction.

Key Specifications

  • Faxon rates it for .17 HMR, .22 LR, .22 Mag and 5.7x28mm, a wider list than most .22 cans carry.
  • Short configuration length is 3.87 inches, compact enough for a suppressed pistol.
  • Full configuration length is 5.78 inches, with the extension tube and three extra baffles added.
  • Weight is 5.1 ounces short and 8 ounces full, light enough to leave a pistol balanced.
  • The tube and baffles are 17-4 PH stainless steel, chosen for strength under hotter cartridges than .22 LR.
  • The finish is black nitride, a treatment diffused into the steel that will not peel or chip.
  • It mounts by 1/2×28 direct thread, the standard rimfire barrel thread.
  • Maximum body diameter is 1.070 inches, slim enough to clear most pistol sights.
  • The box holds six baffles, three standard and three perforated, for tuning the stack.
  • It is full-auto rated in all four calibers, with a 5-inch minimum barrel for 5.7x28mm.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I switch between short and full mode? Unscrew the end cap with the included .50 caliber Challenge Coin tool and add or remove the extension tube and three baffles. Faxon says the change takes about 30 seconds.

How often should I clean it? Faxon recommends cleaning the internals every 300 to 500 rounds, since rimfire ammunition fouls heavily. The baffle stack is fully removable, and ultrasonic cleaning is permitted.

Do I need ATF approval to buy this? No. As of October 9, 2026, ATF no longer requires Form 4 approval, registration or a tax stamp for suppressors. It transfers on a Form 4473 with a background check through a Class 3 (SOT) dealer. State and local laws still apply.
