The Gerber DoubleDown folding machete in green is an American-made outdoor tool that folds to about half its size for a pack or belt (Gerber part no. 30-001533N). Gerber built it to chop, cut and baton in one compact package, and a 420HC steel blade carries the work. A patent-pending QuadLock system engages in three positions so the blade stays secure under heavy load. The included sheath mounts to a belt or to MOLLE webbing. For campers, bushcrafters and anyone clearing brush, it covers the ground between a knife and a full-size machete.

Key Specifications

• The weight is 18 ounces, a manageable figure for a tool that is built to chop.
• The tool ships with a MOLLE or belt-carry sheath, so it mounts to a pack, vest or belt.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the three functions Gerber designed this for? Gerber designed the DoubleDown to chop, cut and baton. The spine has jimping for batoning, and the extended length helps with chopping brush or small trees.

How does the QuadLock work? Gerber describes it as a patent-pending four-lock system that engages in three positions. All four locks must be engaged to operate the blade, and the design lets the user clear fingers from the path of the blade.

Can I carry it on MOLLE gear? Yes. The sheath is a multi-mount design that attaches to a belt or to MOLLE webbing.
