Description
The Daniel Defense MK18 SBR is a black 5.56mm NATO short-barreled rifle on a 10.3-inch cold hammer forged barrel (Daniel Defense part no. 02-088-07327). It follows the barrel length used on the MK18 upper in close-quarters work and carries the RIS II picatinny quad rail that the company supplies to USSOCOM. The charging handle is the ambidextrous GRIP-N-RIP, and the stock and pistol grip are Daniel Defense parts. A 32-round DD Magazine and a full-latch impact plastic case ride with it. It is a fit for vehicle carry, home defense and close-quarters training.
Key Specifications
- The chambering is 5.56mm NATO, the standard AR-15 service cartridge with the widest choice of training and defensive loads.
- Barrel length is 10.3 inches, short enough for tight spaces while keeping useful 5.56 velocity.
- The barrel is cold hammer forged chrome moly vanadium steel with a Government profile, chrome lined, and it carries a 1:7 twist.
- The handguard is the MK18 RIS II picatinny quad rail with a Bolt-Up System, which gives mounting space on all four sides.
- The gas system is carbine length, direct impingement, with a pinned low-profile gas block.
- The muzzle device is the Daniel Defense flash suppressor on 1/2×28 threads, which cuts flash and accepts common thread-on muzzle accessories.
- The charging handle is the ambidextrous GRIP-N-RIP, so it runs the same from either shoulder.
- Weight is listed at 5.88 pounds, light enough to carry and swing quickly.
- Overall length runs 26 3/4 to 29 7/8 inches with the muzzle device, depending on stock position.
- Sights are sold separately, so you pick the optic or iron sights that suit the job.
