The Black Rain Ordnance Outflow 5.56 suppressor is a titanium can rated for .223/5.56 rifles (brand part no. BRO-OUTFLOW). It is the standard-length Outflow, and Black Rain Ordnance also builds a longer Outflow XL that is sold as a separate model. Titanium keeps the weight at the muzzle down, which matters most on a light carbine that gets carried and shouldered all day. The .223/5.56 rating fits the AR-15 rifles and carbines that make up most suppressed rifle setups. For a shooter who wants a light can on a 5.56 rifle, the Outflow is the compact choice in the line.

Key Specifications

• The caliber rating is .223/5.56, the cartridge pair used by most AR-15 rifles and carbines.
• The body is titanium, which keeps the weight added to a light carbine low.
• This is the standard-length Outflow, the shorter of the two Outflow models alongside the XL.
• This is a centerfire rifle suppressor, built for 5.56 rifle and carbine hosts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Outflow come in more than one length? Yes. Black Rain Ordnance offers the Outflow in this standard length and as the longer Outflow XL, which is sold as its own model.

Do I need ATF approval to buy this? No. As of October 9, 2026, ATF no longer requires Form 4 approval, registration or a tax stamp for suppressors. It transfers on a Form 4473 with a background check through a Class 3 (SOT) dealer. State and local laws still apply.

Will it work on an AR-15? It is rated for .223/5.56, the chambering of most AR-15 rifles and carbines, so a 5.56 AR is the natural host.
