It is built to sit on the inside of an M-LOK rail slot, spreading out the clamping force from a bolted-on accessory such as a rail section, light mount, or sling mount so the polymer or carbon fiber forend around the slot is not stressed by a single hardware point. Machined from aluminum rather than a stamped or molded plastic backer, it holds up to repeated mounting and unmounting without deforming. Finished in black, it disappears inside the handguard once installed. This is a small but useful reinforcement part for shooters mounting hardware directly to an M-LOK forend.
