The Cold Steel Espada XL (brand part no. CS-62MGC-GRBK), finished here in grey, is one of the largest folding knives Cold Steel makes, inspired by the classical Navaja knives of Spain but built with thoroughly modern materials. A design collaboration between custom knifemaker Andrew Demko and Lynn C. Thompson, the Espada carries a 7.5-inch clip point blade made from Japanese AUS-10A stainless steel, secured by the patented Tri-Ad locking mechanism known for its shock resistance. The patented Demko thumb plate lets the knife catch on a pocket edge and begin opening as it is drawn, so despite its imposing size the Espada XL is engineered to open in the blink of an eye and still carry discreetly.
