Frequently Asked Questions

Will it fit any Colt Python? No. EGW states that some newer Pythons are drilled and tapped for only one screw on the top strap, and if your gun has only one hole on the top strap this mount will not work. The Python needs a second screw hole drilled and tapped for this mount.

What hardware comes with the mount? It ships with two 6-32 x 7/16 inch flat head screws, one 6-40 x 3/8 inch flat head screw and one 4-48 x 3/8 inch flat head screw. The screws take a 5/64 inch Allen wrench.

How is the mount installed? You remove the rear sight, install the mount in the dovetail, place the red dot on it and secure everything with blue Loctite. EGW lists torque of 20 inch-pounds for the 6-40 screw, 10 inch-pounds for the 4-48 screw and 15 inch-pounds for the red dot screws, and recommends that a qualified gunsmith do the installation.
