Sierra’s MatchKing line is the brand’s pre-eminent target bullet, and this .22 caliber, 90-grain hollow point boat tail (brand part no. 9290T) is built to that same accuracy-first standard. Its jacket is drawn thin to an exacting concentricity tolerance of 0.0003 inch maximum variation, and bullet weight is held to within plus or minus 0.3 grain, tolerances aimed squarely at competitive accuracy. The hollow point design uses a very small meplat for a high ballistic coefficient, and the boat tail shape further minimizes drag to improve that coefficient downrange. While some shooters have used MatchKing bullets for hunting, Sierra recommends this bullet for target shooting only. For handloaders standardized on Sierra match components, this reloading bullet is built for serious .22-caliber target accuracy.
