The Aero Precision MOD 4 M-Lok Handguard (Aero Precision part number APRA600002C) is a 13.5-inch free-float rail machined from 6061-T6 aluminum for AR-platform rifles. It shares the same Minimal Optical Deflection design philosophy as the rest of the MOD 4 lineup, built to reduce deflection under load while staying light in hand. The handguard attaches to the upper receiver through a steel barrel nut, a design choice that meaningfully reduces point-of-impact shift when running an infrared laser aiming device under load. For builders standardizing on the MOD 4 platform across multiple rifles, this 13.5-inch length covers mid-length and longer gas system builds where extra rail real estate is useful.

Key Specifications

• Length is 13.5 inches, suited to mid-length and longer gas system builds.
• Attachment slots are M-Lok pattern for direct-mount accessories.
• Construction is 6061-T6 aluminum, balancing strength and low weight.
• A steel barrel nut interfaces the handguard to the upper receiver, reducing point-of-impact shift under an IR laser load.
• The MOD 4 profile is engineered for minimal optical deflection, keeping the sight picture consistent under recoil.

Frequently Asked Questions

What accessory mounting system does this handguard use? It uses M-Lok slots for mounting lights, grips, and other accessories directly to the rail.

Why does the barrel nut matter on this handguard? The steel barrel nut interfaces the handguard to the upper receiver in a way that reduces point-of-impact shift when running an infrared laser under load.

Is this a free-float handguard? Yes, the MOD 4 free-floats around the barrel, which helps preserve accuracy.
