Hornady HAP (Hornady Action Pistol) bullets in .45 caliber, .451-inch diameter, 230 grain hollow point (brand part no. 451611), take the proven XTP bullet design and refine it into a dedicated competition projectile. Where XTP bullets use folds and a cannelure to aid controlled expansion for defensive use, Hornady strips those features out of the HAP line, leaving a sleek, balanced bullet with a protected nose built for consistent, reliable feeding in semi-auto pistols. The hollow cavity in the nose still allows for expansion on impact, but the design priority here is competition-grade feeding reliability and accuracy.
