Sierra GameKing .338-Caliber 250-Grain Spitzer Boat Tail bullets (brand part no. 2600) bring match-bullet ballistics to long-range big-game hunting. Sierra built the GameKing line specifically for hunters shooting at extended distances, borrowing the boat-tail design normally reserved for target bullets to cut aerodynamic drag well beyond typical hunting ranges. That streamlined, tapered base keeps more velocity downrange, which translates directly into greater striking energy, a flatter trajectory, and noticeably less wind drift on a long shot. At 250 grains in .338 caliber, this is a heavy-for-caliber option well suited to large or dangerous game at real hunting distances.

Key Specifications

• Bullet diameter is .338 inch, standard for .338-caliber magnum cartridges.
• Each bullet weighs 250 grains, a heavy-for-caliber option for large game.
• The spitzer boat tail profile is designed specifically to reduce aerodynamic drag at extended range.
• Sierra markets this as a GameKing bullet, its long-range hunting line built around match-bullet aerodynamics.
• The boat-tail base improves retained velocity, striking energy, and wind resistance compared to a flat-base design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this bullet built for? Long-range big-game hunting, where the boat-tail design pays off in retained energy and a flatter trajectory.

What cartridges use a .338-inch bullet? Standard .338-caliber magnum cartridges load this bullet diameter.

Why does the boat tail matter at long range? The tapered base cuts drag, so the bullet holds more velocity and drifts less in wind over long distances.
