The Barnes Varmint Grenade .224 inch 50 Grain Flat Base Hollow Point bullet (brand part no. 30198) was originally developed for military applications and is built by Barnes to deliver sniper-like accuracy for dependable long-range varmint kills, sold 100 to a box for .223 Remington handloaders. The hollow-cavity, flat-base bullet uses a copper-tin powdered-metal core surrounded by a gilding metal jacket, staying intact at ultra-high velocities in fast-twist barrels while remaining highly frangible on impact. It expends its energy instantly, seldom exiting predators like bobcats and coyotes and leaving pelts virtually undamaged, and it shoots most accurately when seated about .020 inch off the lands and grooves.
