The Dewey Rods .22 Caliber Nylon-Coated Rod (brand part no. 22C17) is built specifically for .22 caliber firearms, with a nylon coating that will not peel or pick up abrasives the way a bare steel rod can over time. It measures 17″ overall, a single-piece rod rather than a sectioned design, and uses an 8/36 male thread with an overall diameter of approximately .210 inches to match .22 caliber bore dimensions. Dewey uses male threading on this rod specifically because it allows a coating 7 to 9 times thicker than a female-threaded rod, and the connection between the male thread and the rod attachment is notably stronger as a result. A dual-track ball bearing handle lets the rod spin freely with the rifling, and it ships with a 22J jag and an SMBA brush adapter ready to use from Dewey Rods.
Why does this rod use a male thread instead of female? Male threading allows a nylon coating 7 to 9 times thicker than a female-threaded rod, with a stronger connection at the attachment point.
What comes included with the rod? A 22J jag and an SMBA brush adapter.
